Slug Generator
Turn any title or sentence into a clean, URL-friendly slug.
A slug is the URL-friendly version of a title or piece of text, used in blog post links, product pages, and file names, where spaces, punctuation, and accented characters are replaced with a consistent, safe format. A good slug is lowercase, contains only letters, numbers, and a single separator character, and has no leading or trailing separators.
Type or paste your title into the box, choose a separator, either a hyphen or an underscore, and whether to force lowercase, then click Generate. Accented characters are automatically converted to their closest plain-letter equivalent, and any run of spaces or punctuation collapses into a single separator.
This is useful for generating a clean URL slug for a blog post or article title, creating a safe filename from a document title, or converting a product name into a URL path segment.
What happens to accented characters?+
Accented letters, such as e with an accent, are converted to their closest plain equivalent, so cafe with an accent becomes cafe in the slug.
Can I use an underscore instead of a hyphen?+
Yes, choose your preferred separator before generating the slug.
Why does my slug have no leading or trailing separator?+
Leading and trailing separators are automatically trimmed to keep the slug clean.
Is my text sent to a server?+
No. The slug is generated entirely in your browser.
