Markdown to HTML Converter
Convert Markdown into clean HTML, or convert HTML back into Markdown, entirely in your browser.
Markdown is a lightweight way to write formatted text using plain characters, headings start with a hash symbol, bold text is wrapped in double asterisks, and lists use a hyphen or number. This tool converts that Markdown syntax into standard HTML tags, or works the other way, taking HTML and converting it back into Markdown.
Choose a direction using the toggle, paste your content into the input box, and click Convert. The tool supports headings, bold and italic text, links, images, code blocks, blockquotes, ordered and unordered lists, and horizontal rules in both directions.
This is useful for turning a Markdown README file into HTML for a webpage, converting HTML content copied from a website into clean Markdown for a blog post or documentation file, or quickly checking how a piece of Markdown will render as HTML.
Which Markdown features are supported?+
Headings, bold, italic, inline code, code blocks, links, images, blockquotes, ordered and unordered lists, and horizontal rules.
Does converting HTML back to Markdown preserve everything?+
Common formatting elements convert cleanly, but complex HTML structures like tables or embedded scripts do not have a Markdown equivalent and may be simplified or dropped.
Is my content uploaded to a server?+
No. All conversion happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Can I convert a large document?+
Yes, there is no strict size limit, though very large documents may take slightly longer to process.
